East Ridge Residence, an independent living community in East Ridge, TN, continues to offer seniors unique and engaging daily activities to ensure they enjoy their retirement.

Why is it important for independent living seniors to have a full activity calendar?

Remaining physically and mentally active is a very important part of staying healthy, especially for seniors. East Ridge Residence prides itself on ensuring that our residents always have something to do and someone to do it with. Every day, our residents can expect to pick up a new hobby, socialize with other residents and have fun. Even just sitting by the pool can lead to making a new friend!

What activities did our seniors enjoy this month?

A very popular activity at East Ridge Residence independent living is craft time. Our residents love being creative together.

This month, we were joined by Lacy Gradon from Hospice of Chattanooga for a very special craft day! She led us as we made terra cotta planters and gumball machines just in time for spring.

Another favorite activity among our community is bingo. Bingo not only can help with concentration and cognitive skills, but is also a great way to socialize! Finally, we made sure our residents enjoyed some down time with a movie and popcorn.

To keep our residents healthy in all aspects, exercise classes are an important part of our activity calendar. One of the most popular classes at East Ridge Residence is drum exercise class. We combine an exercise ball, a laundry basket and drumsticks to get a unique cardio workout.

We make sure our residents have fun while staying healthy!

Exploring our community together is a great way to keep our residents engaged! We enjoyed many group outings this month including a trip down to the riverwalk for some walking followed by ice cream. We also headed out to Cracker Barrel where we enjoyed a delicious lunch.

How do we celebrate as a community?

We love to celebrate the holidays together at East Ridge Residence. For St. Patty’s Day, our residents enjoyed a full day of celebration including a special St. Patrick’s Day themed bingo. We ended the holiday with a festive party that featured a musical performance by Bob Bogart. To celebrate Easter, we made Easter bunnies with Amanda from Amedisys Home Health. We also held a peanut auction where our residents were given peanuts to use as currency!
